Due to the bad economy around the world, there are a lot of people looking for good paying jobs in any country, and the people that do have good jobs are more reluctant to leave them. Especially regarding Japan, it isn t like the 80s when they were super rich and just handing out buckets of money to anyone with no skills. Now it is much more competitive and the salaries are much lower. The job that most foreigners do in Japan is teaching English. It is the only job you can get unless you speak Japanese natively AND have a rare skill such as a specialty in international banking, law, or top-tier IT work. Jobs always go to a Japanese person first except in the rare cases where a foreigner is absolutely needed. Teaching English can be a good way to support yourself while you live in Japan for a few years, but it is not a lifelong career. The pay is getting lower and lower, and most teachers burn out within 2-3 years anyway.
quot; You can t even work at a McDonald s without knowing how to speak, read and write native level Japanese.quot; Oh yeah? Tell that to my Filipino friend and the McDonald s he works at, where over half the staff is Filipinio. He s just a beginner of Japanese. As long as you can read Katakana Mcdonalds is fine. The freaking test is half in English. But you need a Visa, and McDonalds does not sponsor Work Visas or anytype for foreigners. My Filipino friend is just in a unique situation where his mom recently became a Japanese national and he was able to get a special visa. Otherwise, Mcdonalds, is obviously not well payed and something someone from Canada is likely to get.
No good paying job is high in demand. It s always poor paying jobs that workers are needed. One of them is elderly care workers(介護福祉士), to take care of old people at home. Japan is accepting them from Philippines and Indonesia. But pay is not high.
You can t even work at a McDonald s without knowing how to speak, read and write native level Japanese. You need a BA degree to qualify for a work visa. And and solid job offer before you get there. I d take Jettoblack s advice.
TokyoE, your post makes no sense, does it? Carl was right.
