How much should you be prepared to spend in an anime store in japan? -

I am an anime fan, and am planning to do a study abroad in Akita. Does anyone have any ideas of a budget for anime stores in japan? or in general?

You should be willing to bring as much as you re willing to spend (on the anime goods). As Japan is the birthplace of anime, you can pretty much bet you re going to find everything and anything you have ever wanted concerning anime (well, maybe not everything...but you get the idea). And who knows, you might even find something outside the categories you mentioned that interests you that s rare/unique and expensive. The price of manga is pretty basic (around 410 yen) but DVDs over there are a little more pricey - like maybe 5000 yen for basic ones to 30000+ yen for like box sets or whatever. But yeah, it s not super cheap or anything, so I guess bring as much as you can just in case.

It depends on how much of an anime fan you are... It can be difficult to find goods for a lot of the older anime. And those goods can be quite expensive as they might be collectors items. There are a lot of goods around for current anime, which range in price from 100 yen (for capsules and little items like pins) and up. Check out Mandrake (im not sure of the internet address, but i think its www.mandrake.co.jp) for collectibles or cospa (www.cospa.com) for more current goods if you want to get an idea of what you will spend. In terms of general costs, I assume you ll be with a host family or some other organized accommodation. I lived in Miyagi-ken in a dorm, and the cost of room(shared bathroom), breakfast and dinner(except sundays) for a month was about 45,000 yen. And the meals were huge! Now I live in Tokyo, so my rent is more, but in terms of weekly budget, I usually spend about 8,000 yen on food each week. Remember you also need to budget for transport (which does add up) and anything else you want to do - travel, entertainment etc. Oh, and mobile phone if you get one.

Your posting subject is too vague, focus it more precisely if you really need some useful response. Generally speaking the budget for something always depends on for example how much and what kind he needs individually. Your taste is not always same as everybody s, you should know.
