What is the best way for a foreigner to travel in Japan? -

I am visiting Japan during the 2008 Cherry Blossom Festival. I ll be in Tokyo for a few days, does anyone have a suggested hotel for there? And then I will be traveling up to Misawa. What is the best (or cheapest) way to get there? JR, Bus, Car Rental??

It all depends on your budget. You can get hotels for as cheap as 6,000 yen or $50. Toyoko Inn is a decent place for that price. The Prince Hotel chain is also nice for about 12,000 yen or $100. Best and cheapest way to travel is probably by JR, followed by bus. Don t take taxis. They are way too expensive. Good luck and have fun!!

Trust me, you don t want to drive in major Japanese cities! You will be great taking the JR, and can use the bus as needed. Be sure to book your hotel in advance- it will be pretty crowded for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Enjoy!
