My Japanese wife and I are living in Japan. We ve been married for about 7 years now and we have two children, a daughter age 5, and a son age 3. We ve been having some marriage problems mainly due to poor communication, financial stress, and cultural differences. The usual problems in most international marriages. The difference here is that we seem to be unable to reach any sort of agreement. She agreed to move to the US with the children after I first went and secured a job first. I moved, got a good job, and she cut off all communication with me. After desparetly trying to keep in touch with her and my children, and for the most par failing, I decided to move back to Japan. Now I m in Japan again, but my wife won t let me see my children unless I get a divorce. Getting a divorce in Japan would mean losing all legal rights to see my children as there is no such thing as joint custody, and no court dictated visitation rights. If we are still married, how can she do this?
You need to talk to a lawyer in Japan about this. Really. Don t look for answers here. Get yourself to a laywer, NOW!
Sounds like a bad situation. You need a new plan. Romance her, get back in her good grace, get her to move to US, then kick her butt out and keep your children.
