Check out this site: http://anysoldier.com/WhatToSend.cfm Also, this site http://milexch.com/ is the military exchange store online. It s the store that is on bases and everything they sell is authorized for military people.
Pretty much anything that can be accepted at the post office can be mailed to someone overseas. Books, magazines, food.. calling cards.. etc.. as long as its nothing live- ie an animal.. ( ha ha) or any type of explovise.. My best friend is in Japan and my husband in Iraq so I have experience shipping care packages..
My husband was in Japan for two years. I was able to send him anything and everything, you just have to fill out the customs form thoroughly!!! You re so thoughtful to send him a package. It s especially nice for the guys and girls who s families don t send anything.
You can ship anything to Japan just as you can in the U.S., and the same items banned for shipment in the U.S. are also banned in Japan. But most importantly, if you are mailing a package to a U.S. military personnel in Japan, you will be mailing it to his APO address.
Japan has no restrictions other than what the US postal service prohibits( flammables, guns, ammo, that sort of thing)
