Fortunatelly Japan and Turkey has mutual visa waiver treaty so that you can take short trip to Japan upto 3 months unless you don t work there. If you have your official passport and return flight ticket, you are allowed to stay there so automatically at immigration office on arrival. One thing you have to be cautious is Japan is NOT paradise for strangers. Everyday, there is felonial incidents happened as same as every country. Misdemeanors such as pervert, drunkenness, assault, pickpocket, thief, fraud, prostitution and/or many more dirty business are very common in Japan. Some Japanese tasty food may contain Pork so if you are moslem, you must be very carefully for dining. Nevertheless, it is also true Japan is still one of safest country for international traveler, particulary not speaking Japanese anything and even first timer going out of the native country. Japanese yakuza is not targeting on any ordinary foreign travelers for their profitable business. They may take some advantage on illegal alien living under world. I think you should recruit some close friend(s) or relatives going there together with you. It is very reasonable for exploration to be safer and practical. If you ara alone, you must be so unreliable for your parent, because they love you too much. But your international experience will greatly helpful for your future, too. Two is always better than one. Three could be much better in first timer trip to out of the country. I hope you could safely enjoy your visit to Japan near future. I think Japan is very friendly to Turkish. Some of them know Turkish music, belly dance and food very well. I was once introduced one of the restaurant before. http://www.asena.jp/menu/D_evyemek.html The dish was awesome and music also nice. No pork there absolutely. Burcu Güne? became one of my favorites singer, too.
Nothing bad will happen to you, I can assure you that. The crime rates are so low in Japan, and I ve been to Japan and observed this. And I m younger than you, so since you re a university student, you ll be wiser than me =] In Japan they are so safe, even the elderly who no longer work, volunteer in cities/towns to keep the areas safe. You see them out and about on the streets, wearing special clothing items. They don t even get paid, it s just out of kindess. Also, you will find that many Japanese people are very polite and kind towards foreigners, and will go out of their way to help you should you be in any kind of trouble. =]
Show them Japanese crime statistics. Show them Turkish crime statistics. In all likelihood, Turkey has more reported crime than Japan, so they ll probably see that you ll actually be *safer* there. Explain to them that the yakuza seldom harasses foreigners, and that human trafficking is mainly limited to women who applied for a job in Japan (sometimes prostitution), and that since you aren t doing that, you probably won t be at risk. Hopefully they ll understand.
Try to point of the positives about the Japanese culture. Well if you are trying to convince your parents to go with you, I would tell them about the attraction. But it sounds like you are going there by yourself. I think usually going with another friend makes parents feel safer when traveling. For my parents they think that going with a guy is safer for a girl. So that he can protect you. There s always the option of staying with a host family, then your parents will feel better of you going because there would be a family to look out for you. Hope this helps you
The crime rates in Japan are almost the lowest in the world. Maybe you could show them a graph. I am sure you will not be going to locations where these people are likely to hang out?! I think the best you can do is do some research, collate it with URL s etc for them to click through to and then ask your parents to read it. I can understand you parents being a little protective, but you probably couldn t have opted for a safer place. Good Luck
Have them visit Japan! I am sure they will see there are no problems here. My parents were a little worried about earthquakes, but they came here and realised that buildings are very well built to withstand earthquakes.
