We are flying from MNL to LAX via NWA and transit from NGO to NRT, will we need to clear Japans immigration? -

I am a US citizen, my wife is Filipino with a Filipino passport and a USA IR-1 visa. I just want to be sure that the flight from Nagoya to Tokyo does not need entry through Japan s immigration. Since my wife only has a Filipino passport and a US visa, if we have to clear Japan immigration to catch that connecting flight, it could be a problem. The flight is path MNLgt;NGOgt;NRTgt;LAX, all on the same day.

this should not be a problem since you are in transit. you can even get a one day pass for your wife if you want. she can get stamped on her passport with a one day Japan Visa pass. I have done this once, staying in Tokyo for a Day while in transit from San Fo to MNL. via Northwest too.

nope. since you merely have to take a domestic flight from nagoya to narita so you won t be stepping foot on japanese soil (aside from the airport/terminal, of course)

nope she doesn t need to get a transit visa prior to her departure from manila. she will be given a permission for landing in transit for departure at a neighbouring port when she lands in nagoya it s discussed in this link : http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/...

When you are tansiting, you do not need to clear visa in your transit point.

Enjoy your trip to LAX. Do not worry about the immigration in Japan since you and your wife are just in a stopover in Japan. You do not have intentions of getting to Japan other than make it a transit point of the airlines. Your wife does not have to pass by or deal with immigration officials. Bon voyage
