Will an American Wii hook up to the American server from Japan? -

I am an English speaker living in Japan and I want to get a Wii from the States. I know that the console itself will work here in Japan but I was wondering if it will hook up to the net so that I can get the Wii channels and get the English versions of the downloadable games. If anyone knows (preferably from experience!) could you please let me know. Plus if there are any other things to consider (like how the hell I am going to get Wii points!), could you please let me know with the answer to that problem if you found one! Thanks.

Realise importing requires you to import every game you want to play and the system itself as the software in Japan will not work with an American console. Not sure about connecting to the Wii connect 24 but the internet is universal I don t think Nintendo is saying upp this american Wii has an Japanise IP, but I could be wrong. With getting Wii points they may only accept American Credit Cards so I would try and import point cards as well.
