Do you need an Adult to check into a hotel in Japan? -

Me and 3 friends are going to Japan at the end of our exams. We ve got the money but we ll only be 16 and one of us 15. Will we be old enough to stay in a holtel or will we need an adult?

NOT going to happen...

It s a question that s asked often enough that plenty of hotels answer it in FAQs. Hotels will allow unaccompanied minors to stay, but they may attempt to contact your parents at their discretion before doing so. It would be best to carry a letter from your parents showing permission, or otherwise, your parents may end up getting an international call from the hotel at an odd hour. And of course, make your hotel reservation in advance. Unaccompanied minors walking into a hotel without a reservation would appear very suspicious to the hotel, so the phone call could end up going to the police or embassy instead.

Each prefecture has local juvenile protection ordinance. Some prefecture may require you to show any document from you parernts. Ask details incld payment method when you book the hotels or hostels.

It s not that big a deal. The fact is that any number of Japanese teens go to Tokyo for entrance exams and stay in hotels by themselves. Like the others say the immigration and airline s check-ins are a bigger deal. But a 15 year old going to Tokyo on their own....no big deal. It happens every spring.

I m not even sure they ll let you on the plane or even into the country, if you got past, I m not sure how you ll get past the Immigration Officers. They just don t let random minors traveling by themselves into the country.

don t listen to alot of the people above!! you can get into japan. me (16) my brother (11) and my best friend (14) all went this summer by plane and had no problem... maybe getting back in will be hard but.. eh... we got in just gotta have you passport. :) as for the hotel part... sorry.. i know that was really want your question asked... u might wanna try and call a hotel and ask... and if you cant speak japanese you might wanna re-think your trip.. its gonna be hard.. but if your with your friends maybe you will be okay :)

How exactly do you plan on getting into Japan n the first place? You can t just show up and walk into Japan.Everything from the airline to the customs amp; Immigration inspectors will have a problem with unaccompanied minors.
