Is it possible to visit Japan without spending a fortune? -

I ve been interested in Japan for awhile now and I d really like to visit sometime. I ve heard it s really expensive, but my wife and I aren t rich. Is it possible to visit Japan without spending a lot of money? If so, how?

yes, of course you can visit Japan without spending lots of money..depends on the season you are going to and if there are people willing to accomodate your stay... if you got friends in Japan and you have no intention of staying long... or stay on backpack group hotels.or ryokans where there are free breakfast.... use trains, subways..search on how to go to Japan like backpackers do.. and avoid shopping....start making budget before going there..there are many websites of travellers in Tokyo that would give pointers on how to make it a good trip without spending much. if there is a will, there is a way! and make your journey a good one...

It is possible, depends on your budget though. I suggest saving enough money to take in all that the country has to offer. It s not worth the 12+ hour flight and the plane ticket if you can t visit all the fanstastic sites , taste the food, and attend the colorful festivals. It definitely is wirth saving for!

No, not really. First of all the flight is going to cost quiet a bit of money. Accomodation could be cheap if you are willing to cramp yourself into special quot;hotelsquot; which are not really hotels. They have small submarine like beds (berth like areas to sleep) and not real rooms. These are cheap but very uncomfortable! Food is expensive but dear old Mac Donalds is there and you can eat there everday to economise. Basically the only way it could be a cheap trip is if you know someone there and save your self the accomodation expense. By the way transport is not to cheap either.

Yeah, but if you buy stuff there, its going to be expensive. Go find cheaper accomadations in a place like YMCA........ so yeah, or you can just rent a travel cassette....

very difficult, but not impossible, compared to where? Russia? well, you ll need to do a lot of research before you come, there are some cheap backpacker hotels, youth hostels, and such to stay, and a few cheap places to eat, but not many, good luck
