Is it usually cheaper to buy electronics in Japan? -

My husband is deploying to Japan for 6 months and with Christmas coming up, I don t want to buy electronics for him that he may be able to get cheaper over there. For example, he wants the Ipod Itouch. I just can t see myself spending $400 on 16 gb. Can he get that cheaper there? Or like digital cameras, I m sure he could get it cheaper there. So my question is, buy it now or tell him to wait till he gets to Japan?

ipod is American product, i can not see how can it be cheaper here than in the usa. (the price should be the same no way it will cheaper here) as for the made in japan product, yeah it should be cheaper here, but remember every thing here is japanese language.

A lot of things can be cheaper in Japan if you know where to shop. Akihabara district in Tokyo has a lot of cheap electronics, and heaps of variety too. Shop around in Japan and you will find cheap items - just make sure they are going to work in your own country!

stuff is about the same price but Japan s technology is ahead of America s so everything is more high-tech than back in America.

In relation to the United States, purchasing electronics in the US is generally cheaper then in Japan. The advantage of being in Japan is not cheaper prices, it is more (vast) more selection of items and models with different features etc.
