Depends on how well you speak Japanese. Obviously the more you speak, read, write in Japanese (and by this I mean more then just quot;Konnichiwaquot;) a little easier life is, because you can communicate more with people, therefore opening up more opportunities, in making friends, finding a job, or just general living. The less you know the harder it is.
People are nice, you aren t allowed to buy a property until you ve lived there for awhile. If you live in urban area then its hard to find a decent place to live that affordable.
it s pretty easy to live in Japan once you re all set up with your job and aparment. Making friends is easy too but friends can come and go a lot so it can get a bit sad after a while. That s why it s a good idea to have some good Japanese friends as well.
