Whats the best place in Japan for nightlife, manga and anime? -

I really love anime and manga, and I m going to move to Japan when I m 18...I know the best city to live in must be Tokyo, but what part? I was thinking about Shibuya. Is that good?

Realistically, it s nearly impossible to live in Shibuya unless you have really a good job. It s very expensive place. It s difficult even for Japanese people to have an apartment in Shibuya, or some other places at the center of Tokyo. You have to live in outskirt of Tokyo.

I would recommend Ikebukuro. Ikebukuro is one of the biggest towns of Tokyo, but it s located in rather north part of Tokyo and so the average rent is much cheaper than other big towns like Shinjuku, Shibuya or Roppongi. btw these three towns will be too expensive to rent a room. Ikebukuro has many, many stores including apparel, cafes and restaurants and they tend not to be so expensive. There are also shops for anime lovers. Ikebukuro is also a big terminal station, so you ll find no problem getting anywhere. It takes only 15 min or less to get to Shibuya or Shinjuku.

Shibuya, Shinjuku, or Roppongi...those are for visiting or hanging out. Not for living, definitely. It s noisy during daytime, dirty, less supermarket. If you are interested in those towns, I personally recommend Kichijoji. It is outside of 23 wards but still in Tokyo. It is also accessible to both Shibuya and Shinjuku with one train ride. (both takes about 15mins) Also, Kichijoji has one big electric store (Yodobashi), 4 department stores, 2 hotels, 1 big park, and lots of restaurants or cafe. Kichijoji has been one of the most favorite town for living for over 20 years. Even you don t go to Shibuya, you can still enjoy lots of stuff in this town too. If you just watch manga and anime, live everywhere as far as there are some internet-cafe you can watch if you pay Yen400 or 500/hour. You need to pay more than US$1000/month for one room rent in Shibuya. It s up to you though. Nightlife is absolutely Roppongi best but so expensive anywhere there too. You really need to be a pimp there.

Best places are Shinjuku and Roppongi...And you just can t move to Japan...You need a BA degree to work there.And a job offer to get a work visa...

Wrong. Osaka is the best city, not Tokyo.
