How to divorce if your spouse lives in Japan? -

My friend is Japanese but lives here in the UK. He married a Japanese lady who left him and went back to Japan. How can he divorce her? He married in the UK. Does he also have to divorce her in Japan/register the divorce with the Japanese embassy in the UK? Any advise would be appreciated, especially from anyone who has been through something similar/the same thing!

Your friend must appear in the registration ward office in Japan for divorce.

I would check with a solicitor on this as any information given by others would be conjecture if they had not gone through it themselves. Go to the CAB office near to you first and then get them to recommend a good solicitor that will help. Good luck.
