Yes. When entering a Japanese home, you ll find yourself in a hallway called a genkan . There your host will provide you with some slippers. These slippers are only used inside the house (except the toilet - where you use another set of slippers-). This keeps the house from becoming dirty and seperates the unclean floors from the clean floors. Make sure you are wearing clean and hole free socks! If you want to impress your host, when taking off your shoes, point the toe of the shoes towards the door. Hope this helps :)
Yes. that s a japanese tradition. You should not bring your shoes inside house coz you are bringing the dirt from the outside.
When entering someone s private home, yes. The Japanese like to keep their homes neat and don t want any shoes bringing in dirt from outside.
yes because it is disrespectful. i know cause im Asian and i love JAPAN. you should always use slippers or wooden slippers. slippers is flip-flops that is what white people say
Yes, you should take them off once you get inside of the the doorway. Most houses have a bench for you to sit and take them off and will have guest slippers for you to put on. Also some Shrines will also require you to remove your shoes and put on slippers too. Make sure you are wearing good socks. It will be noticed if you have holes in them and barefoot is not good either.
