I have bought a car while in japan for personal use. How do I get it home to UK? Cost-effective option plz? -

I am on holiday in Japan and am wanting to buy a 7-seater vehicle for my own personal use and take it back home to Glasgow, UK where I live. I have no experience in shipping vehicles therefore, I am in serious need of advice relating to this. Information on which authority I should contact would also be helpful.

get some air bags and tie them to it then acatch it to a boat and tow it home

If you haven t actually bought it, (not quite clear from your question) I d leave it and look for one already imported amp; taxed/tested in the UK. It s not a cheap business, and you cannot be sure it will meet UK regulations.

think you should have checked that out before buying it!!!!

I would look up quot;Freight Forwarding Servicequot; These companies take care of all the paperwork. Or ask a car dealer if they have any recommendations.

Be very careful. Does it meet UK construction and use requirements? I know of someone who bought a grey import and found that it was incapable of complying with MOT emission requirements for design reasons.

the car dealer will be able to handle the details
