How long shall I stay in Japan? -

I m planning a new year trip to Japan. I can take about a month off. Naturally, I dont want to spend the whole time in Japan, but ideally how long should I stay there to be able to see most of the island country? Is one week enough?

Oh, no way at least two weeks. Pick areas of Japan that interest you. Checkout common areas that people love to visit. Kyoto bamboo forests, Tokyo night life, Hachiko the dog, etc. I usually go every two years. I am saving up for a longer than usual trip. FYI, rail passes are a great investment, JR rail pass can only be bought here, not in japan. as far as my opinion, go 3 weeks!! d(^_^)b

I lived 3 and a half years in Japan and did not get to do all I wanted! I only got to go to Tokyo for a day because its so expensive traveling within Japan. I lived in Northern Japan, in Misawa. In that are is snowboarding in Winter and in Hirosaki in Spring is Cherry Blossoms. I will be visiting Okinawa soon and its beaches! Family lives there.

2 weeks is fine but honestly, even 1 month is not enough for Japan. I was there for 1 week and I barely scratched Tokyo and Kyoto. That s why I plan to go there every year.

You could spend the entire time in Japan......... It is a large country with much to see and do.... It is also a very expensive country so be prepared!!!!

You could spend a week in Tokyo and not see everything. It would take a life time to see everything...

One week is not enough. You could spend an entire week just in Kanto or Kansai and not see all the sights in those areas.

One week? Maybe you could see like 15% of Tokyo in that time.

Refer to this blog.

about a week n a half
