Would a 15 year old minor legally be able to live alone by herself in an apartment in Japan? -

1. Both of her parents died, and she was legally declared an orphan @ 4 years old. 2. She got adopted at age 7, by a 27 year old adult. The adult doesn t have any other children, by blood or adopted. 3. She and her mother live separately in different apartments -that are located in the same neighborhood. 4. The mother pays for all of her daughter s apartment bills and money necessary for her to recieve her high school education. 5. They meet each other four to five times a week, and both carry each other s contact information in case of emergencies. ...So would scenerio be considered legal in Tokyo, Japan? And please justify your answer (don t just say yes or no ). Thanks.

Are they Japanese citizens? The legal system is very different in practice if not in theory in Japan then in the US. Maybe you should ask on Japan Yahoo Answers? Be sure to give more details, or if this is hypothetical. Anyway who cares, if the girl is thriving? That would be the likely Japanese system reaction. As they say in Japan, quot; The nail that sticks up gets hammered downquot;. that kind of attitude will likely allow this sort of theing to slip by. Tokyo is a VERY big city and without fmaily ties or other in-group connections, I don t think anyone will care or even notice.

All the situation can be happend in Japan too. But teenager and student who don t have decent job (income) can not rent an apartment by her/himself in Japan. If their parents made a contract for the apartment, she can live alone. Actually some Japanese teen TV stars (mostly high school students) are living alone. They have money but their parents are renting the apartment instead.

AH no! tell her to get emancipated then yes she could.
