Is it harder to be come a manga artist or singer in japan if black? -

I was thinking of becoming a manga artist in japan when or if i move to japan.

The short answer is quot;yesquot;. Not necessarily because you re black, but because you re not Japanese. Even for Japanese people, becoming a manga artist is extremely difficult. It s very competitive and even if you get into the field, you ll likely spend your life as an assistant, inking the drawings of more popular artists. Only a small percentage of artists ever get published. Even then, it s not exactly lucrative. On top of that, you re not Japanese. Japanese is a pretty difficult language to learn, much less master. Being a manga artist (especially if you want to do your own work) requires an extensive knowledge of the language. A singer has the same problems, but it also has the added fact that singers in Japan are basically chosen for their looks rather than talent. So unless you re a slim buxom beauty, you probably don t have a shot. That being said, I guess there s a first time for everything. With a lot of talent, luck, and determination, I guess anything is possible. You can read this guy s perspective, which goes into a lot more detail: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/comic-cr...

no offence sista, but read this blog http://www.gaijinsmash.net/ its about a black guy who went to japan to teach english. its still being maintained to this day ( aka he s still there, and still updating even after 4 years) long story short, i dont want his life. quot;manga artist or singer in japan if black?quot; you ve got a better chance of becoming member of the KKK, at least they display less racism than what you will receive in japan. http://www.gaijinsmash.net/ he has over 200 entries spanning 4 years, of his life, with detail and everything, reading his blog will open your eyes to japanese people WHO LIVE IN japan ( the ones who live outside of japan are pretty nice people). pick up a history book detailing black people in america over 70 years ago, then then read http://www.gaijinsmash.net/, ts like getting a live rss feed from the past. and as for manga go here http://idrawmanga.com
