What US military forces get stationed in Japan? -

Long story short, i d like to join the military, and it would be a dream job if i got stationed in Japan (because i want to find a nice Japanese girl to marry). My cousin was stationed there for a while, as Construction Battallion in the Navy. What other branches get stationed in Japan, and of those, which one would i stand the best chance at getting sent there in? Especially if i speak conversational (not... quite fluent) japanese?

Every branch of the US military has a base in Japan. I don t think that the Navy has the largest presence though... where are your sources people? I would say that joining the Air Force will be your best chance of getting stationed there as they are actually the biggest presence on the island. On Okinawa alone they have a huge presence. I myself lived there for about 3 years, and it was quite fun.

Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines all have units there. I was in the Army, so as far as chances go, I can only speak for them. The best chance you have as an army person to go to japan is in intelligence. If you already have some skill in the language, you could ask about language school as well. But here is the most important thing, and this applies to all branches. No matter what a recruiter tells you, do NOT believe it unless it is WRITTEN in the contract. You may be able to sign up and get a specific duty station in your contract, but like I said, if it isn t WRITTEN in the contract, it is NOT going to happen. Same goes for language school. They may promise you language school, but don t believe it unless it is in the contract. And even if you get language school guaranteed, the fact that you already speak Japanese means NOTHING. They will just as soon stick you in Arabic.

All the major branches are stationed in Japan. We are Air Force and lived in Misawa (which is Northern Japan) for 7 years. Japan is a hugely sought after assignment in all four branches, so your chance of getting it is about equal although my money would be on AF or Navy..they seem to make up the majority of the military there. Conversational Japanese won t really go far with the military...you would need to be fluent in spoken and written Japanese to catch thier eye and even then there are many others who are. As for getting a Japanese wife..I wish you well. The quiet, traditional Japanese wife is quickly becoming a thing of the past.. In fact, women in Japan are holding off on marriage and building careers more and more. Learn about the culture as much as you can...there are some cultural issues that can make dating a bit of a challange!

you have US Navy, US Air Force, Marines. This is what WE PEOPLE know! Who knows what else they might be having there? Delta, Seals, Rangers!! But i m sure they must be having some sort of strong presence. Coz you never know when North Korea gets mad! as for ur chances, better ask ur cousin for first-hand information!!

The only ones stationed in Japan are the Navy, the Air Force, the Army and the Marines. Other than that nobody else.

All branches of the military are stationed in Japan or Okinawa. It s hard to say where you may wind up for your first enlistment but you can request a tour in Japan.

The biggest US military presence in japan is the US Navy, followed by the US Air Force.

The mainland is mostly Navy and Airforce. Okinanawa is mostly Marine and airforce with a few Army.

Navy does, but you have to get fleeted every so often. There is an Air Force base there, and some Army special forces.

all of them except for the coast guard...we were there for 8 years at misawa air base in northern japan..all four branches are there....

retirees?
