Any good books on women and their place in the family in Japan? -

Feminist liberation theories that can be used to criticize the disadvantaged position of Japanese women will do. Books that compare the structure of the family in Japan and other countries? xxx

I don t know about any non-fiction, but a book that is semi-fictional and based on the author s life growing up Japanese is Obasan by Joy Kogawa. Kogawa tries to reconcile her reality living in Canada while being raised with traditional Japanese values at a very volatile time in Canadian history. It s well worth reading. I m sure you could find numerous interviews with her talking about the comparisons between Japan and Canada. Otherwise, I would just google your query.

Here s a link you can look at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_fa...

I dont know any exact books, but im pretty familiar withthe dewey decimal system, ... try the 305 ish area... 305.3 if i remember totally correctly,,,
