It sounds like you have already been offered a job and may already have a fixed location. Living in a large city is very convenient but sometimes comes at a price. Consider living at least an hour outside (by shinkansen) of Tokyo or Osaka if that is an option. 4,350,000 yen will afford you about the same standard of living in Japan as $40,000 in the US would. If you are planning on living in Japan for a year a Japanese preschool/kindergarten program would be fine.
