What or where are the best places to sight see in Japan? -

I hope to visit Japan one day, but i wanted to know if there are any good places to visit or sight see while I am visiting anything the country.

I ve said this before in a similar post, but I feel that smaller cities don t get all the attention they deserve!! I used to live in Miyazaki, located on the southern island of Kyushu. Beautiful, beautiful place! 15 minute drive and you re at the ocean, another 15 minute drive and you re in the mountains, then somewhere in the middle is a small city that isn t too crowded or noisy, with lots of nightlife and good food. Good tourist spots (temples, monuments, museums etc..) are all fairly close, and since not so many American and European tourists choose to go to the smaller places, you ll never be bothered by too many obnoxious travelers of your own kind. Another thing, everything is WAY cheaper than the bigger cities!! If your adventurous, It would make a really neat experience to avoid the mainstream and go somewhere unique.

most north american travellers visit: tokyo, kyoto, osaka, Hiroshima, nagasaki, these places have a lot of history and are quite exciting. but japan has lots of places worth visiting.

Everywhere!!! I lived there for a year and there is so much to see. I definatly recommend Osaka and Kyoto. There s is way much more than Tokyo, but you can spend a whole week just on that! It s so amazing. Walking down a side street you will find the most random things like temples, festivals, stores, aracades, etc. I can t wait to go back!
