How do I move to Japan effectively? -

I have always dreamt of moving to Japan one day. While that day may be far off, I wanted to ask how does someone move to a new country (in this case, Japan) effectively? I hear that Japan does not allow duel citizenships. That would mean severing ties with the US, which I understand is very difficult for tax reasons. If anyone has experienced moving to Japan (or any country not controlled by the US) from the US, can you please give me some advice on your experiences?

Go to Japan section of Asia pacific in Travel category, and ask Adam guy your question. But remember, Japan is mono cultural nation. More than 98% of population is Japanese. And East Asian nations including Japan are not taking immigrant policy like the US.

Attaining japanese citizenship is a long drawn out process that takes years and a lot of effort. Unless you are marrying a Japanese.. is that the case? You can get a resident work visa without giving up your american citizenship. This will entitle you to live in Japan with most of the benefits of citizenship apart from the right to vote. All in all, going after japanese citizenship isnt really worth the hassle. If you want to go to Japan but you have no job lined up, I would recommend applying from your home country to work at an English language school. This would secure you a working visa. Many of them offer part-time work which would give you time to search for a job you really want. (http://www.teachinjapan.com/) Of course if teaching English sounds like your cup of tea, there are plenty of options. The JET programme is the most prestigious and is reasonably hard to get. Its government sponsored and the money and conditions are better than all the alternatives. www.jetprogramme.org Hope this helps.

Hey cons, here s someone that s finally moving out of the USA. Why don t you guys back up what you always say and help him move out of America?
