What has been happening recently to the Nova language company in Japan? -

I ve heard they have publicly announced they are bankrupt. Is this true? Anyone currently in Japan working for Nova? What is it like for you? I recently interview for them, but was rejected. I, instead, am going on assignment with the Aeon company in 2 weeks. I ve heard many quot;badquot; things about Nova, what have you heard?

You probably are better off at Aeon, although no quot;eikaiwaquot; school is perfect. Yes, Nova just sought protection from its creditors yesterday. Their president is on the run (actually, has not been seen for a while), and four of seven of their board have resigned. Teachers are currently unpaid at the moment, and all of their schools have quot;temporarilyquot; suspended business. They are also were under investigation and penalized for questionable business tactics of selling quot;ticketsquot; for lessons in advance but failing to provide refunds for unused lesson times. Up to now, NOVA has been the largest English conversation company in Japan.

http://www.newsonjapan.com/cgi-bin/news/... 1. Staff lied (?) and got contracts illegaly. 2. Students want to quit NOVA and cancel the contracts, but either NOVA didn t let them or they just paid back little amount of money. 3. Students claimed. 4. Court told NOVA that NOVA cannot get longer contract with new students until December. Also court told NOVA to pay pack to the students who want to quit NOVA. 5. Many students start quitting NOVA. 6. NOVA is getting broke. 7. So that employees, including foreign staff, haven t been paid. That s how I understand so far... If you want to teach English in Japan, JET program is much better than private English conversation schools, such as NOVA, AEON, GEOS, and ECC...
