Is it wise to purchase a NIKON D80 in Japan? -

I am going to japan for 6 weeks. I will absolutly need a camera but i want a NIKON D80. is it cheaper in japan? will i still be able to understand it?

The only problem with buying in Japan is you will have no warranty in your home country. Plus, you may find its actually more expensive in Japan. Most all cameras come with all applicable languages since they are exported world wide. You may also be liable for import taxes/duties when you return home. My advice is buy it where you live, take the receipt with you and enjoy.

You will encounter no end of trouble if you need service after leaving Japan. Nikon is insistent on warranty service only in the country you purchased the camera in, and even out of warranty won t work on them unless you actually resided in the country you bought the equipment in on an ongoing basis and then moved.

Depends on which country you are from. Check the monetary exchange rate of your country and the Yen to see if it would be cheaper to buy one in Japan. It s language will probably be in Japanese and Nikon might not have International warranty that you may need later on.
